Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust Invests in Carestream DRX-Revolution Mobile Units ‘To Help Meet Increasing Demand’

HEMEL HEMPSTEAD, June 29 — Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust has invested in two CARESTREAM DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray units. The Revolution mobiles will be used across 42 wards on the Derriford Hospital site in Plymouth, including four critical care units. Derriford Hospitalis a large trauma and multi modality site with more than 900 beds and is part of the largest hospital trust in the south west of England that provides a full range of general hospital services to around 450,000 people in Plymouth, North and East Cornwall and South and West Devon.

The hospital previously used a combination of mobile CR and wired DR units that will be replaced by the Revolutions. Lead Radiographer at Derriford Hospital, Jeanette Snowden said: “the Revolution’s Wi-Fi facility enables images to be delivered to medical and surgical teams with no delay, having an immediate and positive impact on the delivery of high-quality patient care.”

The innovative Carestream DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System is the industry’s only mobile x-ray system with a fully automatic collapsible column. Powered by a wireless DRX detector, the unit gives superb image quality.

“We expect the units to significantly free up capacity to help meet increasing demand,” said Jeanette Snowden. “The units are radiographer-friendly and image quality is excellent. We also expect minimum downtime, with excellent engineer support from Carestream.”
